This is the exciting part about writing a book! Today I get to introduce you to the book and set the scene. I’ll also talk about some of the fun stuff I have planned and tell you a little bit about prophecies.
Are you ready? Okay… let’s go!
Starchild
Book one: The Age of Akra
What if you lived in a world full of powerful energies? What if the nations were divided not just by race but by a unique power? What if a group of children were brought together by a prophecy? What if it was much more than just a journey they had to endure? What if a dark underworld craved the collective power of the nations?
These were the questions used to bring this story to life. However, I did use another element, the chakras. I had been investigating and researching energies and their sources when I remembered reading about the charkas years ago. I asked myself a question. Could I use these centers to form believable powers in a fantasy world?
And so the nation’s powers of the planet Sage were born. Each one based loosely around the seven chakras.
I aligned the energy centers as follows:
- From the crown chakra: Thoughtbankers
- From the Third Eye chakra: Lightsealers and Darksealers.
- From the Throat chakra: Soundwavers.
- From the Heart chakra: Soulbankers.
- From the Solar Plexus chakra: Firerulers.
- From the Sacral chakra: Waterclaspers.
- From the Root chakra: Earthfollowers.
The seven nations’ powers aligned with each of the centers may not correctly coincide with the actual energy centers believed to be present in the human body, however, the elements, thought, light and dark, sound, fire, water and earth are indeed all capable of producing energy. The only one which is undefined by science is the power of the soul.
Now let’s talk about the prophecy. What is a prophecy? Some people say it’s as simple as a prediction of coming events. Prophecies can be simple or very complex. The person or people who tell or speak the prophecy are called, a prophet or prophets.
In Starchild, The Age of Akra the prophecy is foretold as a poem or verse. Each line is foretelling what is going to happen. But prophecies are seldom made easy to understand. And keeping true to my love of a good mysterious prophecy I too have made it a little tricky to understand.

Now let me set the scene for you
When Mai is selected an ancient prophecy is set in motion. The events to come are predicted but not unchangeable. When the Starchild returns to Sage the foreknowledge of the prophecy begins to gain strength. Four children come together and become linked to the events that lie ahead. Their first journey, The Age of Akra, has them facing their fears in a spiderflax lair. Only then to be confronted by a creature of the underworld, a Dementra called Amual.
The struggle to bring peace to the world of powerful energies lies in the hands of four children and a strange little lizard. And it will not come easy. This journey is only the beginning.
